Foghlam tro Mheadhan na Gàidhlig (FtG) aig Àrd-sgoil Ghlinn Challdair
Tha Àrd-sgoil Ghlinn Challdair ann an Cille Bhrìghde an Ear a’ tabhainn foghlam àrd-sgoile d’ sgoilearan a tha fileanta ann a’ Gàidhlig, ann a’ Siorrachd Lannraig a Deas. (Tha Foghlam aig ìre nan Tràth Bhliadhnaichean agus a’ Bhun-sgoil gan toirt seachad le Bun-sgoil Bheinn Chamshroin agus an Sgoil-àraich
http://www.mountcameron-pri.s-lanark.sch.uk/).
Tha plana 5 bliadhna àrd-amasach againn gus inbhe agus cleachdadh na Gàidhlig a thogail air feadh an ùghdarrais agus fiu ‘s nas fhaide.
An-dràsta, san Àrd-sgoil tha aon Phrìomh neach-teagaisg na Gàidhlig is tidsear Gàidhlig eile; cuideachd tha tidsear Nuadh-Chànain sa sgoil air soirbheachadh ann an Teisteanas Gaelic (Luchd-ionnsachaidh) Nàiseanta 5 fhaighinn am bliadhna, ‘s i air ìre A a choileanadh.
Tha sgoilearan a bhios a’ dèanamh Gàidhlig aig Àrd-sgoil Ghlinn Challdair, fileanta sa chànan, ‘s iad air a dhol tro Foghlam tro Mheadhan na Gàidhlig bho aois 3, no na bu tràithe. Mar sin, tha cothrom aig luchd-ionnsachaidh na Gàidhlig, Teisteanasan Nàiseanta a shuidhe aig gach ìre fhad ‘s a tha iad ann a’ sheo. Thathar an dòchas gum bi feadhainn a bhios ag ionnsachadh Gaelic, cuideachd comasach Teisteanasan Nàiseanta fhaighinn anns an àm ri thighinn.
Gach madainn, tha a h-uile sgoilear S1-S6 a’ dèanamh clàradh còmhla. Bidh seo a’ toirt dhaibh cothrom a bhith a’ cleachdadh cànan sòisealta, ao-coltach ris an dòigh ‘s a bhios iad ag eadar-obrachadh le chèile taobh a-staigh nan clasaichean àbhaisteach air feadh an latha. Tha buaidh làidir aig a seo air an cuid fileantachd.
Am bliadhna, leis gu bheil tidsear Gàidhlig a bharrachd againn, tha e air a bhith comasach dhuinn Eachdraidh, Eòlas Creideimh agus Moraltachd, Eòlas Pearsanta is Sòisealta is beagan Ciùil (a bharrachd air Gàidhlig) a thoirt do sgoilearan S1.
Tro ùine, thathar an dòchas seo a leudachadh gu làn thairgse is raon farsaing d’ chuspairean FtG (Foghlam tro Mheadhan na Gàidhlig) airson sgoilearan aig gach ìre.
GME at Calderglen High School
Calderglen High School in East Kilbride offers the Secondary provision for pupils who speak Gàidhlig in South Lanarkshire. (Early Years and Primary provision in South Lanarkshire is offered by Mount Cameron Primary and Nursery
http://www.mountcameron-pri.s-lanark.sch.uk/).
There is an ambitious 5 year plan with the aim of increasing awareness and use of Gàidhlig across the authority and beyond.
Currently at Calderglen there is an acting Principal teacher of Gàidhlig, a Gàidhlig teacher and one of Calderglen’s teachers of Modern Languages has just achieved an A pass in National 5 Gaelic (learners).
Pupils studying Gàidhlig at Calderglen are fluent speakers of the language, having been immersed in it since the age of 3 or earlier. As such, learners studying Gàidhlig have the opportunity to sit National Qualifications at all levels during their time at Calderglen. It is hoped that in time Gaelic Learners will also be able to gain National Qualifications in future.
Every morning, all Gàidhlig pupils from S1-S6 register together which gives them an opportunity to use social language outwith the traditional learning environment. This is having a positive impact on their fluency.
This year, having an additional teacher of Gàidhlig has allowed Calderglen to offer History, RMPS, PSHE and some music (as well as Gàidhlig) through the medium of Gàidhlig for S1 pupils.
It is hoped, in time, that a full GME (Gaelic Medium Education) offering can be achieved.
